Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdymukhamedov unveiled a US$5 billion ‘smart’ city named Arkadag in honor of former leader Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. The city, located around 30km southwest of the capital Ashgabat, is built in the foothills of the Kopet-Dag mountains.

In national and international appointments, IPS officer Ajay Bhatnagar has been appointed as the Special Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) until his superannuation on November 20, 2024.
