Draupadi Murmu, the President of India, will confer the National Geoscience Awards – 2022 in New Delhi. The Ministry of Mines will present the awards in three categories: the National Geoscience Award for Lifetime Achievement, the National Young Geoscientist Award, and the National Geoscience Award in various fields of geosciences. These awards recognize achievements in Mineral Discovery and Exploration, Basic Geosciences, Applied Geosciences, and Mining and Mineral Beneficiation.

Under the Indian Presidency, the third and final meeting of the G20 Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Working Group took place in Chennai. Mami Mizutori, the Representative of the UN Secretary-General for DRR, highlighted that the establishment of the Working Group signifies the commitment of all G20 countries to address the root causes of disasters proactively.
