Bindeshwar Pathak, the founder of Sulabh International, passed away at the age of 80 due to a cardiac arrest. He was a pioneer in creating public toilets and established Sulabh International, an organization dedicated to promoting human rights, environmental sanitation, and waste management. In recognition of his efforts, he was honored with the Padma Bhushan in 1991 for his work in liberating manual scavengers and preventing environmental pollution through innovative toilet technology.

The Telangana government announced a farm loan waiver of up to Rs 99,999 in August 2023. This waiver, totaling over 5,800 crore rupees, is set to benefit more than 9 lakh farmers.
