The National Housing Bank (NHB) has successfully operationalized the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF), which has an initial corpus of Rs 10,000 crore. The establishment of UIDF was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the 2023-24 Budget speech with the objective of utilizing the priority sector lending shortfall to facilitate the development of urban infrastructure in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Loans from UIDF will carry an interest rate of 5.25%, which is Bank Rate minus 1.5%.

India’s largest depository, the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), has filed its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for an initial public offering (IPO). The IPO will involve the paring of stakes by IDBI Bank, NSE, SBI, HDFC Bank, and Union Bank of India. Currently, IDBI Bank and NSE hold stakes of 26% and 24% in NSDL, respectively, while SBI, Union Bank of India, and Canara Bank are also key stakeholders.
The Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) program in India has expanded to over 1.60 lakh centers and recorded a footfall of over 178.87 crore as of June. By the end of August, the government plans to add additional services such as screening, prevention, and control to the program.
