Union Minister for Home and Cooperation Amit Shah virtually inaugurated the ‘Akshar River Cruise’ on Sabarmati Riverfront. Developed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited, this passenger catamaran is the first of its kind in India under the Make in India initiative. With a cost of Rs 15 crore and twin engines, it can accommodate 165 passengers for a safe one-and-a-half-hour journey. The launch of the cruise is expected to boost tourism in Gujarat.

Max Verstappen, a driver for Red Bull, emerged victorious at the Austrian Grand Prix 2023, held at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria. Charles Leclerc from Ferrari secured the second position, while Sergio Pérez from Red Bull finished third. The State Bank of India (SBI) has pledged a grant of ₹22.5 crore to the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) through its CSR arm, SBI Foundation. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved the release of ₹6,194.40 crore to 19 states under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). This includes a central share of ₹1,209.60 crore for the year 2022-23 to four states (Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh). Additionally, ₹4,984.80 crore will be provided to 15 states (Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Tripura).

Chemical Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has announced plans to set up nine Nano Urea plants across India by 2025. The goal is to manufacture 44 crore bottles of Nano Urea annually. Nano Urea boasts a higher absorption rate of 80% by crops compared to the traditional urea’s absorption rate of 30%. It is cost-effective and has demonstrated increased crop yields. Several countries, including the United States, have shown interest in Nano Urea.

India’s external debt stood at $624.7 billion at the end of March 2023, marking a marginal increase from the previous year. Although the debt-GDP ratio declined, the external debt rose by $5.6 billion from end-March 2022. Valuation gains, influenced by the appreciation of the US dollar against the Indian rupee and major currencies, accounted for $20.6 billion. Excluding
the valuation effect, the external debt would have increased by $26.2 billion instead of $5.6 billion.

Alan Arkin, the talented actor known for his roles in comedy and drama, passed away. He received four Academy Award nominations and won an Oscar in 2007 for his performance in “Little Miss Sunshine.” In recent years, he starred in the Netflix comedy series “The Kominsky Method” alongside Michael Douglas, earning him two Emmy nominations.
